The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has closed the short-term window for candidates who registered for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to modify their subject combinations.
This two-day chance was opened on Thursday, March 14th, 2024, and Friday, March 15th, 2024, to enable candidates who may have selected the wrong subject combinations by mistake during the initial JAMB registration process to correct such mistakes and ensure their chosen subjects correspond with the desired course of study.
The decision on what JAMB subjects to take is an important part of the UTME registration process.
All courses offered in Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions have their own specific subject requirements.
Making a wrong choice can seriously hurt a candidate and could lead to disqualification or reduce the chance of being admitted into a particular program.
For example, an applicant who wants to study medicine and surgery would normally need a UTME subject combination that comprises the use of English, physics, chemistry, and biology.
If, by mistake, you pick another combination, even if it was not intentional, you will not be considered for your desired course.
For candidates who need to change their JAMB subject combination for the 2025 UTME, the process is rather straightforward.
To initiate a change, do this:
JAMB, in the knowledge of the importance of a correct subject combination, gave this little opportunity for rectification.
During the specified period, candidates were supposed to visit any accredited JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) center across the country to make changes.
The CBT centers facilitated the correction process and ensured its proper execution.
JAMB has advised candidates who missed this window to carefully review the brochure and handbook containing the subject requirements for their desired programs.
These resources are readily available on the JAMB website (https://www.jamb.gov.ng/) and can be downloaded for future reference.

The closure of the correction window does not necessarily mean that there are no alternative options for candidates who may have missed out.
It is important to note that these alternatives are not automatic and may differ depending on individual circumstances.
This choice gives them enough time to research carefully into the subjects required by their desired program and make a correct choice during their next registration period.
A careful review of program requirements and choosing the right subject combination from the beginning will help reduce corrections later on.
The use of JAMB’s official resources, such as brochures, handbooks, and websites, is essential for informed decision-making.
This marks the end of our update on a window that was recently closed to modify 2025 JAMB subject combinations.
All UTME candidates should utilize the given resources and conduct themselves with diligence to have a hitch-free and successful examination experience.
