On the 1st of September,2024, the International passport price in Nigeria was increased. 

The change is only to affect Nigerians living in the country and not those in the diaspora. Therefore the international passport price for Nigerians in Diaspora remains unchanged.

The increase was made to ensure that the quality and the configuration of the passport were not compromised due to the increase in the cost of production and issuing of the passports to warrant a sustainable process while maintaining high security and quality as the modern world demands.

Whether you’re within the country(Nigerian applicant) or part of the Nigerian Diaspora(Foreign applicants), here’s what you need to know about the fees.

  • If you’re in Nigeria or a Nigerian applicant

A standard five-year 32-page international passport is now between the price range of ₦35,000 to ₦50,000 While a 10-year 64 pages passport price is between the range of ₦70,000 to ₦100,000.

  • If you’re a Nigerian living abroad (in the Diaspora)(Unchanged):

You are to pay the sum of $130 for a passport with 32 pages, valid for five years, or $230 for a passport with 64 pages, valid for ten years.

How to Apply for Your Nigerian Passport Online?

5. Go For Your Biometric Appointment 

When going for the appointment, make sure that you have other documents such as payment receipts and means of Identification. 

Your passport will then be processed after your biometric capture.

6. Pick up Your Passport 

When the passport is ready, you will receive a notification through your email or a text message. The time taken to process depends on the season but it should be ready within 3 weeks.

  • If you’re under 16, a letter from your parents giving permission
  • If you’re married, they will ask for your marriage certificate
  • If your passport is lost, you are to bring a report from the police
  • You’ll also need to pay a fee, which depends on your age and the type of passport booklet you want.
  • For Nigerian applicants, the fee is in Naira. For foreign applicants at an embassy or consulate, it’s in US dollars.

For an official passport, like for government work, you will need:

  • A letter from your state or federal government, or your organization
