To begin the renewal process, visit the official eCitizen website at www.ecitizen.go.ke. This is the centralized platform for accessing various government services, including NTSA (National Transport and Safety Authority). Ensure you have a stable internet connection before proceeding.
If you’re a new user, use your credentials or create an account. If you already have an eCitizen account, log in using your ID number and password.
For new users, you’ll need to create an account by providing basic details such as your ID number, email, and phone number. A verification process will be completed before you can fully access the services.

After logging in, you’ll be directed to your dashboard where various services are listed. Look for the NTSA services section, which includes all vehicle and driver-related services. Select the “Driver’s License Renewal” option from the list
Choose the renewal option and follow the instructions. Click the “Driver’s License Renewal” button to initiate renewal.
The system will guide you through a series of steps, during which you’ll need to provide your current license details. Ensure you read the instructions carefully to avoid any mistakes.

After payment, a confirmation message will be sent to the email address linked to your eCitizen account.
This email will contain details of your renewed license and a receipt for the transaction. You can also check your eCitizen dashboard for updates on your renewal status.
After paying and receiving a confirmation message, click “Dashboard” at the top left. You will see your application status “Renewed” and the renewal date.
Click on the “View” button beside the renewal date click “Downloads” and select “Driving licence renewal for 1 year.” Print the NTSA renewal driving licence slip on paper.
Cut out the licence renewal section from the paper and put it in your driving licence.

The next step after renewing your license on eCitizen is to receive your new license.
Once you’ve completed the renewal process, you will receive a digital copy of your license almost immediately.
If you need a physical copy, it will be mailed to your registered address, typically within a few weeks.
