Visa has announced new partnerships to expand its Africa Fintech Accelerator Program at GITEX Africa 2025. This program is a three-month initiative that helps fintech startups in Africa grow by offering mentorship, training, and funding opportunities. Visa’s goal is to support innovative financial technology companies across the continent and boost financial inclusion.
Recently, Visa made strategic investments and formed partnerships with two promising fintech companies after their successful 12-week participation in the program. These companies are Konnect from Tunisia and PayTic from Morocco. Konnect makes it easy for people and businesses to make instant payments by sharing links through SMS, email, WhatsApp, or other messaging apps. PayTic helps businesses improve their back-office operations and manage risks better when handling digital payments. Visa’s new partnerships to expand Africa Fintech Accelerator Program show their commitment to helping these startups succeed and transform finance in Africa.

Leila Serhan, a senior executive at Visa, said she is proud to support these creative fintechs that are changing how commerce and finance work across Africa. She added that Visa provides essential resources, mentorship, and opportunities to help these companies grow and bring digital payment solutions to more people.
Amin Ben Abderrahman, CEO of Konnect, expressed excitement about Visa’s trust in their vision. He said that with Visa’s support, Konnect can push the limits of what’s possible in fintech, making digital payments more accessible and secure for businesses and individuals. Similarly, Imad Boumahdi, CEO of PayTic, said that Visa’s backing helps them improve compliance and streamline operations, which will help them grow faster and make a bigger impact.
These fintech companies are part of a larger group of startups that Visa has invested in through its accelerator program. Other companies include Oze from Ghana, which offers financial products for small businesses, Workpay from Kenya, a payroll platform, OkHi from Nigeria, which provides digital addresses, and ORDA, a restaurant software company operating across Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa. Visa also partnered with Chari from Morocco, a platform that supports small shops and businesses, helping them adopt digital payments and grow.
Visa’s announcement comes during GITEX Africa 2025, held from April 14 to 16 in Marrakech, Morocco. As the official Financial Innovation Partner, Visa showcased its latest innovations, including a “Visa Connected Stadium” experience at the Africa Cup of Nations football event. The company also hosted a demo day where 19 startups from the third cohort of its Africa Fintech Accelerator program presented their solutions to investors and industry leaders.

The latest cohort, which just finished at GITEX Africa, included startups from 21 African countries, with a high percentage led by women. Applications for the next round closed around March 15, 2025. This will offer more African startups a chance to benefit from Visa’s resources and support to drive financial innovation and inclusion across the continent.
