Bridging the Gender Gap in Technology

Despite the important role women play in driving technology forward, they are still not well represented in the industry.

In Nigeria, where the gender ratio is almost equal according to the National Population Commission, only 25% of tech sector workers are women, even though they make up 22% of STEM graduates each year.

This difference underscores the pressing need for initiatives like Moniepoint’s Women in Tech to increase female involvement in technology in Nigeria and other places.

Empowering Women in Tech Initiative at Moniepoint

In line with this year’s International Women’s Day theme, “InspireInclusion,” Moniepoint has launched a program to promote diversity and inclusion within the tech industry.

The program aims to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create a supportive environment where the valuable contributions of women are acknowledged and celebrated.

Over a period of six months, ten women known as the “Dream 10” will have the opportunity to explore various roles in technology, such as cloud engineering, backend engineering, technical product management, data engineering, systems administration, technical support, and user experience.

Apart from mentorship, participants will receive a competitive salary, necessary tools for work, branded merchandise, and the chance to collaborate on real projects.

Outstanding interns may even be offered permanent positions based on their performance during the internship period.
