There are times when we wonder where our friends are, what they’re doing, or what’s happening in certain places around us. While Snapchat is famous for its fun filters and stories, Snap Map adds a new layer by mixing social interaction with discovery.

Snapchat Map, or Snap Map, is a cool real-time feature that lets you see where your friends are if they choose to share their location.
It also allows you to check out what’s happening in different parts of the world, whether it’s a big event like a concert or just everyday stories from other Snapchat users.
With Snap Map, you can easily stay updated on global events, and the Snapchat Map settings give you full control over who can see where you are, helping you manage your privacy.
Snapchat Map is more than just a way to share your location. It comes with cool features that make it a must-try for anyone using the app:

To open Snap Map on the Snapchat app for both iOS and Android, tap the Snap Map icon located on the action bar. This will show your location, but you can also tap on “Friends” to see where your friends are if they’ve shared their location. To adjust your Snap Map settings, click the gear icon (Settings) in the corner.
If you want to see a specific friend’s location, go to the “Friends” tab, find their profile picture, and tap on it. If they’ve shared their location, a small preview will pop up beneath their name. Tap on that preview to see their location on the Snap Map.
You can also access Snap Map using a web browser by going to map.snapchat.com. This web version lets you explore stories and events around the world, but there’s no need to log in or see usernames—it’s a public version of Snap Map.

Drag your finger across the map to see colourful spots. The colours show how many Snaps have been shared from that location—blue means a few, while red means lots of activity. Tap on a colour to view the Snaps from that area.
The colourful spots on the map aren’t just for Snaps—they often have story collections from popular places and events. Tap on a hot spot, and then tap again to watch stories that people have shared from that location.

If you’re snapping from a place with a Story collection, you can add your own Snap by choosing “Our Story” from the “Send To” tab. You can even create your own Geo Story by tapping “+Custom” and sharing it with people nearby.
At the bottom of the Snap Map screen, there’s a tab called “Places” where you can find popular spots around you, places you’ve marked as favourites, and spots you’ve tagged in your Snaps.
If you want a friend or family member to know exactly where you are, use Snapchat’s Live Location feature. Go to their profile and let them track your real-time location for 15 minutes, an hour, or up to eight hours.
You can stop sharing anytime, and they won’t be notified. This feature even works when the Snapchat app is closed.
When it comes to sharing your location, Snapchat understands the importance of privacy. Luckily, you can easily decide who can see your location and when.

To turn this feature on, follow these steps:
No. Your location only updates when you open Snapchat.
It’s completely up to you. You can use the Snap Map as often or as little as you would like.
