Safaricom, the big telecom company in Kenya, offers this really cool service called FULIZA. It’s like a continuous overdraft service for M-PESA customers. With FULIZA loans, you can make purchases even if you don’t have enough money in your account, and it’s all done directly from your mobile phone.
The idea behind FULIZA loans is to give instant funds when you need to make transactions but don’t have enough in your mobile wallet. You can use the loan to pay for things, send money, and make purchases, even if your mobile wallet balance is low. And when you top up your account, the loan amount is automatically deducted.
To be eligible for FULIZA,
1. Dial *334# or *234# on your phone.
2. Select “Loans and Savings” and navigate to FULIZA.
3. Opt-in to access the loan limit you have been given.
Things to keep in mind about FULIZA:
– You can make as many FULIZA loan requests as you like, as long as you don’t exceed your allotted amount.
– You can send funds to both verified and unverified recipients using the loan.
– With the loan feature, you can pay for Lipa Na M-PESA, buy goods, pay bills, and even buy airtime for yourself and others using USSD or the M-PESA app.
– There is an initial 1% entry cost and a daily maintenance fee of 1% starting at 00:00 hours the next day.
– The access cost paid by customers also includes a 20% excise levy. If you repay the loan before 00:00 hours the next day, you will only need to pay the access fee and maintenance on the outstanding amount.
1. Open the M-PESA menu on your Safaricom line.
2. Select “Loans and Savings.”
3. Choose “FULIZA M-PESA.”
4. Select “Check Balance.”
By following these steps, you will be able to check your FULIZA loan balance and see the amount you owe.
Sure, let me rephrase that article for you:
When you’ve been using the network for at least six months, a FULIZA limit will be assigned to you based on your line’s usage at the time of activation. However, if you’ve been using the service for less than six months, you won’t have access to the overdraft services just yet.
Now, here’s something important to note: When you first get access to the loan feature, your borrowing limit might be a bit low. But don’t worry! You can increase your overdraft limit by actively using Safaricom and M-PESA services and making timely repayments of your FULIZA M-PESA facility through M-PESA top-ups.
Keep in mind that your FULIZA limit can change based on how much you borrow and how quickly you pay it back. So, make sure to stay on top of your repayments to maintain a good borrowing limit.
