Google CEO Sundar Pichai Might Step Down

Google CEO, Sundar Pichai, has been facing criticism as a result of the sudden and intense competition in the field of artificial intelligence. Google recently halted the creation of historically incorrect images using its Gemini image generator.

The company’s stock plummeted as a result of the error, which prompted Google CEO Sundar Pichai to address the troops and label the situation as “completely unacceptable.”

Google CEO Under Fire For Wrong Gemini Image Generated

A growing number of people are calling for the replacement of Google CEO Sundar Pichai, as the scandal has reinforced the idea that the company has unexpectedly fallen behind in the AI race.

Due to its “historical inaccuracies” and perceived as being “too woke,” Gemini’s AI image generation tool was met with disapproval and became the target of numerous jokes.

The image generation feature of the chatbot was removed by the company due to intense criticism, and it was announced that it would be restored only after it was fixed. Things got so bad that Pichai addressed the problems and labeled them as “completely unacceptable” in a statement to the staff. Meanwhile, the stock of Alphabet, the parent company of Google, fell precipitously.

However, according to Business Insider, calls for Pichai to resign as Google CEO have increased as attention has turned to more general problems with the company’s culture. Google had already committed these mistakes. When a question concerning the James Webb Space Telescope was posed to the chatbot during a public display of Bard, the ancestor of Gemini, an awkward error was made.

The Misconception About Google CEO Gemini Images

This gives the impression that Google is releasing products quickly rather than waiting until they are perfect.

In his publication Stratechery, analyst Ben Thompson stated that a significant cultural change is required at Google. In the past, he had charged that the business was overly “timid” in the AI competition. However, he believes that it is now heading in a different way.

He wrote, “If the company’s strategy with Gemini was driven by timidity, then it’s safe to say that it completely backfired; while Google turned off Gemini’s image generation capabilities, its text generation is just as absurd.”

Thompson cited a question posed to Gemini, asking which was worse: Hitler or Elon Musk tweeting memes. “It’s difficult to say definitively who had a greater negative impact on society,” the chatbot stated.

Conclusion

Although the billionaire Tesla made a number of dubious decisions that most likely went against societal norms, what Gemini said is blatantly stupid. According to Thompson, this situation necessitates disabling even Gemini’s text-generation functionality.

“Google’s research and infrastructure should position them as a leader in AI. But it’s obvious that culture stands in the way more than the business model.

In light of this, the most polite thing you can say about Google’s management is to presume that they, like everyone else, simply want to create products without getting yelled at,” Thompson said in closing.
