Samsung May Have Finally Fixed A Major Flaw in Its Foldable Smartphones

Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition: Samsung is known for making some of the best foldable smartphones on the market. There are only a few competitors that can match the experience offered by Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip devices, particularly when it comes to software.

However, Samsung has lagged in terms of hardware. But that could all change with the release of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition.

Galaxy Z Fold6 Special Edition To Come With Crease Control

This tip comes from serial leaker Ice Universe, who has one of the better track records when it comes to rumors. The “crease control” in the upcoming Special Edition of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is “better than ever”.

It’s likely this Special Edition model will not appear anywhere outside of South Korea and China, but it augurs well for future Samsung foldables that will be available more widely – including the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Meanwhile, industry insider Ross Young reckons Samsung is shifting its display technology to Ultra Foldable Glass (UFG) technology in part to achieve these aims.

In a post exchange on X, Ice Universe wrote: “Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 special edition. This time, they have done a good job in the crease control, better than ever.”

Young responded by saying: “Likely due to the use of UFG for the first time…”

Young has previously spoken on the possibility of using Ultra Flexible Glass for the Z Fold Series. It is noted for having variable thickness. It would be thicker elsewhere and thinner at the center seam, which would presumably result in a less visible crease.

Other Upgrades in The New Samsung Edition

In addition to an improved crease, previous leaks suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition could come with design and build upgrades over the standard model.

The new model is rumored to be about 0.6mm thinner than the Z Fold 6 and features a titanium frame for added durability. Leaks also indicate the Special Edition will sport a larger cover screen and internal display, measuring 6.5 inches and 8 inches, respectively.

Other reported upgrades include an improved under-display camera, jumping from 1MP to a sharper 5MP, and a 200MP main camera on the back.

However, there are uncertainties over the device’s official unveiling and availability, but we can expect more details to emerge in the coming days.
