MultiChoice South Africa has Restored the Ability to Stream DStv on Multiple Devices Simultaneously

Imagine being able to watch your favorite TV shows on multiple devices at the same time. That’s exactly what MultiChoice South Africa has made possible again. They’ve restored the ability for DStv Premium, Compact Plus, and Compact subscribers to stream content on two devices simultaneously. This means you can enjoy your favorite programs on smart TVs, laptops, or smartphones without having to fight over who gets to watch what.

This change is a big deal because MultiChoice had previously limited streaming to just one device at a time. They did this to stop people from sharing their passwords, which is a problem many streaming services face. However, they’ve now realized that families often want to watch different things on different devices. So, they’ve reversed their decision to make life easier for their customers.

The new rule doesn’t apply to the cheaper subscription packages, but if you’re a DStv Stream customer, you’ll get an extra stream on any device. This is part of a series of improvements MultiChoice has made to its streaming service. Last year, they introduced features like cloud PVR, which lets you pause and rewind shows without needing a decoder.

They also made it easier to start watching a show from the beginning and added personalized recommendations to help you find new shows you might like. Plus, they’ve made it possible for parents to set up special profiles for kids that only show suitable content.

For sports fans, this update is fantastic news. You can now watch live sports events on multiple screens at the same time, thanks to MultiChoice’s SuperSport channels. If you’re a DStv Premium subscriber, you already get Showmax for free, and now you can stream four shows at once—two on DStv and two on Showmax. This is especially exciting with DStv’s packed sports schedule and wide range of entertainment channels.

DStv has been doing great things in the sports world. Recently, SuperSport set a record by showing 18 live UEFA Champions League matches on the same day. According to Byron du Plessis, the CEO of MultiChoice South Africa, bringing back the second stream is all about keeping up with how people watch TV nowadays. With more people using multiple devices, it makes sense to let them stream on more than one at a time.

This change comes as MultiChoice is getting ready to announce its annual price adjustments, which usually happen in April. Meanwhile, the company is working on a big deal with Canal+, a French media giant. Canal+ is trying to buy the rest of MultiChoice’s shares, but this deal faces some challenges due to South Africa’s laws about foreign companies owning local media.

Despite these challenges, MultiChoice is still focused on giving its customers the best entertainment experience. They’ve been recognized as one of the most admired media brands in South Africa, which shows how much people value what they do. By restoring the ability for MultiChoice DStv streaming on multiple devices simultaneously, they’re making sure that families can enjoy their favorite shows without having to share a single screen.
