InDrive Drivers Laments in Displeasure, Cry over Low Fares

InDrive operates a unique model where passengers pay what they feel is fair, negotiating the fare with the InDrive driver.

This unique service has ensured the company’s success in Nigeria. However, it seems the model the company fondly adopted has run out of favor with its drivers.

InDrive Drivers Complains Of Low Fares

InDrive drivers have criticized the app company for the absurd fare prices that riders on the app are offering. This complaint comes after the harsh economic situation in the country escalated.

The low fares have led to a decrease in trip frequency and a reduction in ratings, as drivers are forced to abandon trips due to unviable compensation.

Hence, the InDrive drivers are calling for a review of the service’s terms and conditions, specifically concerning cancellation reasons and fare policies.

Drivers Calls For Review Of The Model

According to a report by Technext, a rider offered an insignificant sum of 2,000 naira for a trip starting in Fatai Durosinmi-Etti Crescent in Victoria Island to Egbeda.

This trip should cost about N4000 to N5000. Yet the fare the app requested was not enough for three liters of fuel.

An InDrive driver venting his frustration, said, “Someone needs to sue InDrive because it is becoming worse every day. Some days I as a ride-hailing drivers don’t even go out because of the ridiculous amount on the app. I only go out when I get offline. This is because it is of no use. If I venture on such a ridiculous trip, the entire money won’t even be enough for fuel alone.”

InDrive would have to step up to address the current issue to maintain its position as one of the top ride-hailing platforms in Nigeria.
