MTN Faces More Problems in Nigeria

MTN’s New Challenges in Nigeria: Nigeria’s major network, MTN, experienced an extreme slowdown on Thursday.

Surprisingly, this coincided with the commencement of nationwide protests against bad governance. 

Recall that Silicon Africa reported how Nigerians stormed MTN offices across the nation on Monday, over the disconnection of subscribers from the network over the weekend.

Several MTN subscribers in Nigeria have taken to X, formerly Twitter, to express their frustration over the downtime on the network.

The situation has left concerned Nigerians with speculations that the development might be the government’s intention to frustrate the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests.  

The development calls for immediate action from MTN as the protest is aimed at drawing the government’s attention to the prevailing economic hardship faced by citizens.

However, the network provider is silent over the issue.

Netizen’s Calls Out MTN

MTN’s new challenges in Nigeria have compounded as Netizens have started calling out the company and accusing it of joining the Nigerian government of oppressing the people. 

Opeolu_waa reported the issues, saying, “Suddenly, MTN’s network is bad on the day of the planned protest; you people know what you’re doing.”

@sunnyjoflife: “All of a sudden MTN Network is not working properly on 1st of August. These people know what they’re doing.”

@Tarifubara noted that they had used the MTN network earlier in the day without issues, suggesting that the problems might be targeted.
