MTN Group Closes CEO Favouritism Case

MTN Group has ended the probe raised against its CEO, Ralph Mupita, with no evidence of any wrongdoing. Recall that, the CEO of MTN, Ralph Mupita, was accused of Favouritism.

Mupita was accused of having a close relationship with a top female group executive, which was at the heart of the issue.

According to the accusers, he dished out favors to her and had allegedly tried to illegally usurp some of their executive responsibilities and give them to the executive.

However, after a special meeting on September 4, MTN’s board accepted the findings and declared the matter resolved.

MTN defended its CEO, saying “MTN has noted the media reporting in the past few days regarding allegations of complaints against members of the group’s executive.”

“Also, MTN shareholders are advised that the group board held a special meeting on Wednesday, 4 September, to deliberate on a report by an independent law firm, assisted by counsel, tasked to verify allegations contained in an anonymous complaint against members of the MTN executive.”
