Thread Vs TweetDeck: Meta’s newest platform, Threads, is testing a new feature similar to TweetDeck on the Web. TweetDeck was previously a feature enjoyed by X (Twitter) users. It was originally created by anonymous developers before being acquired by Twitter in 2011.

Also, it was popular enough that Twitter management considered selling it to users as part of a subscription offering on several occasions over the years. However, they never ended up charging for it.

Thread Vs TweetDeck: TweetDeck Now Present On Thread

Elon Musk acquired Twitter in late 2022, changed the name of TweetDeck to X Pro, and added it to the company’s subscription offering. However, Threads is not charging for its new TweetDeck lookalike product, a spokesperson confirmed. This move is sure to attract more users to the platform, designed to challenge Elon Musk-owned X (formerly Twitter).

Mark Zuckerberg revealed today that the social network is testing pinned columns on the web. The Meta CEO didn’t mention what you can pin on the interface with this tool, but the screenshot he posted implies that topics can be pinned.

Instagram head, Adam Mosseri, said in a post on Threads: The experience will let users pin separate columns for their favorite searches. These include tags, accounts, saved posts, and notifications.”

Thread Vs TweetDeck: Meta Not The Only Social Network With The Feature

This development could also mean that the Threads API could provide third-party developers with more flexibility. This could be in offering content on the social network in a different way. However, until now, Meta hasn’t talked about letting developers build independent Threads clients through its API.

Also, some developers have built TweetDeck-like features for their social networks such as Bluesky and Mastodon. Mastodon also has its own built-in TweetDeck-style interface on the web. However, Zuckerberg’s announcement is the first move in a column-based tool direction for Threads.
