Mawingu has also enhanced its network coverage in Garissa County with an investment in fiber delivery infrastructure. The ISP will be laying more than 30 kilometers of fiber to improve its connectivity experience in the county.
Mr Ramji said, “Mawingu remains committed to going the extra mile to meet our customers at their connectivity point of need. “To this end, we are firmly focused on expediting our mid-term growth strategy of expanding our connectivity to additional counties across Kenya.”
Mawingu is a rural Internet Service Provider offering Internet connectivity by building sustainable, flexible infrastructure in underserved regions. It was founded in 2012 in Nanyuki.
Having connected more than 19,500 homes and businesses across 30 counties, Mawingu offers a series of shared Internet packages for homes and small businesses, as well as dedicated connections and services for large enterprises.
Also, Mawingu uses wireless, fiber, and smart green-energy technology, and has a network transmission fabric comprising 175 towers (base stations).
The towers are backhauled directly to dedicated fiber trunks and/or high-capacity microwaves, links with diversity and high levels of redundancy built into the architecture.
Mawingu is now focused on positively impacting 1,000,000 East Africans by 2028.
