He said, “Harmony has made breakthroughs. You can say in 10 years we’ve achieved what it took our European and American counterparts more than 30 years to do, in terms of building the core technology of an independent operating system.”

Huawei’s proprietary operating system, HarmonyOS, was launched in 2019 after US technology restrictions limited its access to Google’s Android OS.

Reasons Behind Huawei Resilience

According to Yu, HarmonyOS has achieved remarkable milestones, now running on over 900 million devices. Also, Huawei’s Ascend AI infrastructure is touted as the most powerful from a Chinese company.

The infrastructure has gained significant traction. Yu mentioned it ranks as the second most popular AI chip after Nvidia, a leader in the AI chip market.

According to Yu, the launch of Mate60, which is equipped with an improved China-made chip, caused Huawei’s sales to go up. The sales of Huawei’s smartphones running HarmonyOS have increased by 68% in the first five months of the year, reflecting growing consumer acceptance.

Conclusion

Huawei’s success in operating systems, AI, and smartphone technologies reveals its stance as a formidable player in the global tech landscape.

Also, the smartphone company aims to solidify its position as a leader in technological self-sufficiency and innovation. It’s a journey Huawei is willing to embark on.
