Do you want to change your Jamb details? Making sure your personal information is accurate on your JAMB profile is super important for a smooth registration process.
The steps to change or update your name, number, email, and date of birth (DOB) for JAMB in 2024 will be highlighted in this article.
Correcting your JAMB name details is actually pretty straightforward. If you just need to fix small spelling errors, you don’t have to be alarmed; it’s easy.
During JAMB registration, all you have to do is raise a ticket through the JAMB support centre online or visit an accredited JAMB registration CBT centre, and they’ll help you out.
But here’s something to keep in mind: you can’t completely change your name or make significant alterations to it. For example, you can’t go from being Richard to Segun or from Tunde to Okechukwu. Also, you can’t add or delete a name that you’ve already registered with JAMB. So, for instance, you can’t go from being Abdulhakeem Shola Makinde to just Abdulhakeem Makinde. It’s important to know these limitations.
If you happened to have written JAMB in 2022 or earlier and now need to make a name change, there’s a crucial step you need to follow. You’ll need to fill out an indemnity form, submit it to your institution, and then send it back to JAMB. This process ensures that the name change is accurately reflected in your JAMB records.
Now, let’s talk about an important note regarding name changes. Even if you obtain a court affidavit and officially change your name with NIMC (National Identity Management Commission) after writing JAMB, it’s important to understand that JAMB won’t automatically update your name for you. While your change of name may be valid, the records with JAMB will remain unchanged unless you go through the necessary steps to update it.
Moving on to changing your date of birth, it’s usually not allowed unless there’s a clear error. However, in cases where an error is evident, you can request a change of date of birth. Keep in mind that this correction requires a payment of 15,000 naira at an accredited JAMB CBT registration center. It’s important to note that you must first make this correction on your NIMC record before it can be integrated into your JAMB profile.
It’s crucial to keep your bio details updated with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) before registering for JAMB 2024. Make sure your O’level or A’level names match your NIN details to maintain consistency across platforms and minimize registration discrepancies.
When it comes to emails and phone numbers, it’s important to note that once they are used for JAMB, they cannot be changed. However, if you made a mistake, you can raise a ticket to have the profile with incorrect details stepped down, allowing you to start fresh with accurate information.
Managing your personal information proactively is key to a smooth JAMB registration process. Follow the outlined steps to ensure your name, date of birth, and contact details are up-to-date for JAMB 2024. And remember, always provide accurate and complete information during registration to avoid integration issues or complications.
