Paystack, a successful African payment platform, has lost four of its senior managers to a new startup named GoLemon. The notable move was to launch GoLemon into the African delivery market.

The startup is focused on groceries and household item delivery, not different from Glovo and Chowdeck.

GoLemon Visionary Founders

Yinka Adewyi was the former product lead at Paystack and is the new startup CEO, while Gbadebo Gbade Oyelakin, the former Paystack platform team lead, is currently GoLemon CTO. Abdulrahman Jogbojogbo, the former Paystack market team lead, is now the startup growth officer and Abiola Showemimo will lead the company’s operations.

These professionals worked and positively impacted Paystack for at least six years. It shows they are filled with experience and know the strategies to use for the new startup’s growth. Needless to say, the initiative, GoLemon, is in safe and knowledgeable hands. The startup will be launching in a competitive market due to the impact its competitors have in the region.

GoLemon Meets A Competitive Market

The delivery startup will compete against Glovo, Chowdeck, Mano, and Pricepally. However, the brains behind GoLemon have the strategies in place to carve a space for the company in the market. Jogbogbo told Techcabal in an assertive tone,

“It’s difficult to get started right now and get traction, but if we can weather the storm, I think we would have been able to build a formidable business across the continent.” He further insinuated that the team has enough skills to overcome the challenges they might face in the competitive market.

Additionally, there’s a void created by Bolt and Jumia; both companies exited the grocery delivery market last year. This creates a space for the new startup, GoLemon, in the delivery market.

Unique Strategy The Company Plans To Use to Overcome Challenges

One of the unique strategies GoLemon will use in carving a space for itself is its comprehensive inventory management and fulfillment centers. It allows the startup to source products directly from selected farms and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

The strategy allows the startup to combat high costs for potential customers. Also, it solves the problems of farmers in getting their products across to retailers and consumers. The notable strategy will appeal to retailers who have a large customer base and get recurring orders.

Conclusion

GoLemon has the backing of professionals to be successful in the delivery and food tech markets. The news of the new start-up follows the launch of a food tech startup, Mira. Mira was launched by a former vice president of Flutterwave. It’s an exciting time in the fintech world.
