Bola Tinubu Opens Nigeria’s Cybercrime Centre: With the recent commission of the upgraded Nigeria Police National Cybercrime Center, Nigerians have continued to react.

Many deem the development as an unnecessary project.

The president was represented by the minister of communication, innovation, and digital economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani at the commission.

He said that the government was committed to investing in the Nigeria Police Force through the procurement of sufficient arms, weapons, and other equipment as well as recruitment and continuous training to boost the number, quality, and preparedness of the police personnel.

The cybercrime center, described by the police as an ultra-modern state-of-the-art facility, is aimed at preventing cybercrime and nipping it in the bud when it happens.

However, the initiative wasn’t accepted by the Nigerian masses. 

Most of the youths in the country expressed their opinion on digital spaces and accused the government of not settling more urgent matters. 

Nigerians Reacts To The Commission Of Cybercrime Centre

Teejay on X said, “Your officers are living in dungeons, but this is you guys’ priority?”

TCollectives also said, “ Bola Tinubu Opens Nigeria’s Cybercrime Centre? Whilst you render your policemen in their barracks helpless and nowhere to go.”

The netizens urged the federal government to focus on renovating the police barracks as it was not pleasing to behold. 

Mr George said, “Sir, push for better conditions for police personnel. Their barracks and working conditions are terrible. Do this and make them work under less pressure. That way they won’t be venting their frustration on civilians. The time is now, Sir.”

A netizen posted a picture of the living conditions of the Nigerian police while pointing out the poor conditions. 

She said, “Where they live and where they will go and learn cybercrime.”
