Creating a strong password at this time can be stressful. Apple, observing this effect, has decided to launch a password manager. The password manager makes it quick and easy to store and autofill passwords, especially when logging into apps and websites. This development is unique, as it will increase cyber security.

According to Bloomberg, the new password app Apple will launch will make login into accounts on IOS and MacOS devices quicker and easier. The new app will be launched as a new app on iOS, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15.

The password app will be powered by Apple’s unique password-syncing service, the iCloud Keychain. The unique feature enables the generation of passwords and helps track them. However, the KeyChain is not user-friendly as it’s hidden in Apple settings and only shows up when it recognizes a password field that needs to be filled.

By turning the feature into an app, Apple is trying to get more people to use secure passwords and strengthen the privacy of its devices. But this development heightens competition with third-party software.

The new password app will take on password managers such as 1Password and LastPass, and Apple will allow users to import passwords from rival services.

Bloomberg said the passwords will allow users to organize their logins into different categories. Also, it will also be able to automatically fill login and password fields when needed. Additionally, verification codes, such as those on Google Authenticator, will be supported.

Note that the software will also work on the Vision Pro headset and Windows computers.

Apple’s Upcoming Plans

The new password app is just one part of the WWDC event. The main focus will be Apple’s artificial intelligence initiative. It will add features like notification summaries, instant photo editing, AI-created emoji and a more powerful version of the Siri digital assistant. Apple will also soon declare a collaboration with OpenAI to use the ChatGPT chatbot.
