Safaricom introduces 2nd Cohort Of The Spark Accelerator Program, giving new hope to startups across Africa. After receiving more than 200 applications, Safaricom has picked 10 startups to join this exciting program. These startups come from different fields like finance, creative work, and tools that help small businesses grow.
The Safaricom 2nd Cohort Of The Spark Accelerator Program includes interesting companies such as Mediakits.Io, WePlay Arcade, GoPay, FlexPay, QuePay, Leta.AI, Oye, DigiTax, Incourage Insurance Agency Limited, and StockApp. Each one is working on something new and helpful for the community.

The Spark Accelerator Program is designed to help these startups grow fast. It has two parts. The first part is run by iHub and gives the startups lessons, helpful advice, and mentorship from experts. The second part connects them directly to Safaricom and M-PESA Africa’s business and technical teams. This way, the startups get advice from experienced people and can also use important networks and markets.
Dr. Peter Ndegwa, the CEO of Safaricom, explained why this program is important. He said Safaricom wants to help startups grow and create positive changes in society. The program now offers help not only for early ideas but also with building better technology, reaching new customers, and getting necessary funding. This shows how much Safaricom cares about making a real difference.
The program lasts for three months, ending with a big event called Demo Day in February 2026. At this event, startups will show their ideas to investors who might want to help them grow even more. After that, the startups will keep getting support for up to a year, which helps them stay strong and achieve long-term success.
The Spark Accelerator Program is a team effort between Safaricom, M-PESA Africa, and Sumitomo Corporation. It is managed by iHub and supported by big companies like Vodacom, PwC, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). This team gives startups many resources and chances to learn and grow.
Ojoma Ochai, Managing Director of iHub and Co-creation HUB, talked about how the program is helping Africa’s innovation future. He said startups need new ways to get money, and big companies working with startups is the best way to do this. The Spark Accelerator Program connects startups with the resources they need, helping them grow stronger and build lasting businesses. He praised Safaricom and its partners for making this possible.
