IHS Towers is planning to exit Rwanda in H2 of 2025. The big telecom company has agreed to sell all its business in Rwanda to a new company called Paradigm Tower Ventures. The deal is worth $274.5 million and includes about 1,465 tower sites that IHS has been running in Rwanda for over ten years.
This sale is a big step for both companies. For IHS, it’s a way to focus on other countries where they see more growth. Even though they are leaving Rwanda, IHS still owns more than 39,000 towers in other countries like Nigeria, Brazil, South Africa, and Zambia. The company’s CEO, Sam Darwish, said this decision was made carefully and shows how valuable their Rwanda business is. He also thanked the Rwandan government and everyone involved for supporting their work over the years.

On the other side, Paradigm Tower Ventures is new to the scene but very excited about this opportunity. They started in 2019 and want to build more wireless towers across Africa. Rwanda will be their first big project. Stephen Harris, one of the founders of Paradigm, said Rwanda is a great market with growing need for shared telecom towers. They want to provide good, safe, and reliable services to mobile network companies in the country.
The deal still needs approval from the government and regulators, but it is expected to be completed by the second half of 2025. The price of $274.5 million is based on strong financial numbers, showing that the business is doing well.
