The SASSA R370 grant (yes, it’s R370 now, not R350!) is a real lifeline for many of us here in South Africa. Times are tough, and this money can make a big difference. But once you’ve applied, you’re probably wondering, “Did I get it?” and “When’s the money coming?”
Just a little update: the R350 grant actually went up to R370 in April 2024. So, even though you might still call it the R350 grant, the systems will show it as the R370 grant. Just wanted to clear that up!
Alright, you’ve applied. Now it’s time to see what’s happening. Checking your status tells you if you’re approved, if they’re still looking at your application, or if there’s something you need to sort out.
You don’t need to be a tech whiz to do this. Here are a few easy ways on how to check your SASSA R370 grant application status :
Check Online (If You Have Internet)
This is usually the fastest way:
1. Go to the official SASSA website: srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status
2. Type in your ID number (the one you used when you applied).
3. Enter the phone number you used to register.
4. Click “Submit”.
Boom! Your status should pop up right away.
Use WhatsApp (Super Convenient)
If you’re always on your phone, this is a good option:
1. Send a WhatsApp message to 082 046 8553.
2. Follow the instructions they send you (it’s pretty simple).
3. Give them your ID and phone number when they ask.
Call Them (If You Prefer Talking)
1. Dial 0800601011 from the phone number you used to register.
2. They’ll ask for your ID and phone number.
3. Just answer the questions, and they’ll tell you your status.
No Data? No Problem!
Knowing when the money will arrive helps you plan things out. For April 2025, the R370 payments are scheduled between Friday, April 25th and Wednesday, April 30th.
If you’re getting other SASSA grants, here are those dates for April 2025:
Okay, so you checked, and it says “declined.” Don’t stress! You can appeal the decision. You usually have about 30-90 days to do this. Here’s what to do:
1. Go to the appeal website.
2. Enter your ID and application reference number.
3. Explain why you think they should reconsider (be clear!).
4. If you have any proof that supports your case, upload it.

The SASSA system updates your status regularly, usually about every 30 days. Try to check your status at least once a month, just to be sure.
Also, make sure your contact details are up-to-date so you get SMS notifications about any changes to your application or payments.
That’s it! Hopefully, this makes the whole SASSA process a little less confusing. Hang in there, and good luck!
