MTN NIN-SIM Link Issues: Many affected MTN customers have flooded the company’s offices nationwide.

The affected subscribers voiced their frustration and disappointment over the recent blocking of their phone numbers by the telecom giant.

This development follows MTN’s movement in barring lines with NIN-SIM linkage issues without prior warning.

MTN NIN-SIM Link Issues

MTN deactivated the mobile lines of numerous users. It was reportedly due to their failure to connect their National Identification Numbers (NIN) with their phone numbers.

In response, affected subscribers stormed MTN offices in major cities, including Osogbo in Osun State; Ikeja, and Festac town in Lagos State; Uyo in Akwa Ibom State, and Warri in Delta State.

Protests Against Blocked MTN Sims

Viral videos online show protesters venting their frustration and anger over the MTN NIN-SIM link Issues and sudden disconnection.

The protests highlight the frustration and disruption caused by the mass disconnection, with many subscribers demanding a resolution to the issue.

MTN barred unregistered lines are in alignment with the Nigerian Communications Commission’s (NCC) directive.

The directive is to disconnect Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) numbers not linked to NINs, set to be enforced from July 31, 2024.

In February 2024, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) told telecoms companies to bar subscribers who failed to link their phone numbers to their NIN on or before February 28, 2024.

The deadline was extended to April 15, 2024, and later July 31, 2024.
