Nvidia surpasses Microsoft as the world’s most valuable company

Nvidia surpasses Microsoft value: Nvidia, a high-end computer chip-maker, has upgraded as the most valuable company on the globe. Its share price has risen abruptly in the last five years as AI and machine learning come into focus. Nvidia overtook Apple in less than two weeks after its valuation upgrade.

The chip-maker has now passed Microsoft to stand as the world’s most valuable company based on the chips it makes that are key to powering a boom in generative AI technology.

Microsoft, the world’s most valuable company in January, took the title from Apple (AAPL). However, it dipped slightly, putting its market cap at $3.317 trillion.

In its last earnings report in May, Nvidia reported over $26 billion in revenue ahead of the introduction of new Blackwell GPU architecture later this year with the B200 that it says is “the world’s most powerful chip.”

CEO Jensen Huang said Blackwell units will cost “$30,000 to $40,000” each. He also highlighted that the company plans to release new AI chips every year.

Nvidia shares also went up by the company’s unveiling of its next-generation system, named Rubin, earlier this month.

The Rubin platform, expected to be released in 2026, will supersede the Blackwell platform unveiled earlier this year.

The current rankings reveal Apple is third with Saudi oil giant Saudi Aramco fourth. Followed by Alphabet (Google), Amazon, Meta (which owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, among other products), and electric carmaker Tesla.
