Finally! The much awaited WASSCE result has been released! The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) releases the 2024 results for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
A total of 1,805,216 candidates sat for the 2024 WASSCE and it was reported that 215,267 candidates’ results were seized. Note that only 1,805,216 candidates sat the examination.
WAEC released 2024 results were announced during a briefing, on Monday, by the Head of the Nigeria National Office of WAEC, Dr. Amos Dangut.
He said, “A total of 1,814,736 candidates registered for the examination from 25,126 recognized secondary schools in the country.”
“1,685,889 candidates, representing 93.39%, have their results fully processed and released. 119,327 candidates, representing 6.61% have one or more of their subjects still being processed due to some issues being resolved.”
Note that candidates whose results have been withheld will be contacted directly by WAEC with further instructions on how to address the issues identified.
Dr Amos also highlighted that the results of 215,267 candidates (representing 11.92 percent of the total) are being withheld in connection with various reported cases of examination malpractice.
He stated that 1,332,089 candidates, this represents 73.79% of the total candidates, obtained credit and above in a minimum of any five subjects (i.e. with or without English Language and/ or Mathematics.
Also, a total of 1,301,941 candidates (representing 72.12 percent) obtained credit and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

Highlighting the discrepancy between the genders of candidates who sat for the exam, he said, “Of this number, 628,820, i.e., 48.30% were male candidates, while 673,121, i.e., 51.70% were female candidates.”
