MultiChoice has once again lowered the prices of its DStv and GOtv decoders in Nigeria. Starting November 1, the price of a DStv decoder dropped from N10,000 to N7,900, while the GOtv decoder now costs N6,500. This move by MultiChoice Nigeria is the second price cut in just a few months.
In a statement shared with Technext on Monday, MultiChoice explained that lowering decoder prices shows their commitment to making premium entertainment more affordable for Nigerian families.
The new prices are:
– DStv decoder: ₦7,900
– GOtv decoder: ₦6,500
– DStv dish: ₦10,000
– GOtenna: ₦3,500
This price drop follows an earlier cut in June, part of their “We’ve Got You” campaign, when the DStv decoder price was slashed from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000 and the GOtv decoder from ₦18,600 to ₦9,900.

Tope Oshunkeye, MultiChoice’s Executive Head of Marketing, said this price cut is all about making sure entertainment stays affordable and accessible for everyone. He also mentioned it’s a way to bring back customers who may have left.
“With the festive season coming up, families want to spend quality time together, and what better way to do that than by enjoying great entertainment at home? We want to make sure everyone can afford world-class shows,” Tope said.
He added that the new prices should help more families enjoy local and international shows without hurting their budgets. This change takes effect from November 1, 2025, alongside the launch of MultiChoice’s Festive Campaign.
MultiChoice’s latest financial report, ending March 31, 2025, showed they lost about 1.2 million active subscribers, leaving 14.5 million subscribers total. For the holidays, MultiChoice will be airing plenty of exciting content across DStv and GOtv, including kids’ shows, local hits like Etiti and Mother of the Brides, and international blockbusters. Football lovers will get the Premier League, Ligue 1, La Liga, Serie A, and AFCON all on SuperSport channels.
Back in June, the “We’ve Got You” campaign aimed to reward loyal customers and attract new ones by making premium content easier to access. As part of it, customers who fully paid their subscriptions between June 16 and July 31, 2025, got a free upgrade to a new DStv package tier.
MultiChoice said this was also their way of helping Nigerians dealing with tougher finances and stiff competition from Netflix and YouTube. The company wants DStv to be the go-to platform for daily entertainment across many genres like movies, dramas, kids’ shows, and news.

The upgrade was automatic for all who renewed during the campaign period.
Over the past two years, MultiChoice has lost 2.8 million subscribers, partly due to ongoing economic challenges in Africa, piracy, and competition from global streaming services. They also faced a $576.5 million loss because of currency drops against the US dollar. Despite these challenges, the company says they’re working hard to stay strong by investing in streaming services like Showmax.
They told investors that while there is some improvement compared to last year, the whole market is feeling pressure right now.
