MTN Foundation (MTNF) Invests ₦3 Billion in Scholarships, Opens Application for 2025
MTN Foundation has opened its application portal for the year 2025 scholarship programme. This is part of its initiative to empower students. For the last 15 years, MTN Foundation has invested ₦3 billion in terms of scholarship, benefitting almost 15,000 students nationwide. This program is designed to develop academic skills, improve diversity and enhance the competencies of young Nigerians to fit into today’s job market.
The MTN Foundation scholarship programme consists of a Science and Technology Scholarship (MTN STS), a Scholarship for Blind Students (MTN SBS), and a Top 10 UTME Scholarship. The MTN STS offers a scholarship to science and technology students at public tertiary institutions in Nigeria who are in their 300 (third) level with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 (Second Class Upper or equivalent). The MTN SBS plans to aid blind students who are in 200 level and have CGPA of 2.5 or its equivalent. The Top 10 UTME Scholarship automatically awards scholarships to the ten best candidates in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as published by JAMB.

As of 2024, MTN Foundation increased the scholarship from $200,000 to $300,000 for three consecutive years until graduation. The increase allows the scholars to be able to focus more on their education so they won’t have financial stress as long as they perform academically above the requirement. The awardees are also entitled to mentorship and internship opportunities and digital certification programs that will aid their skill development.
Speaking about the programme’s impact, Odunayo Sanya, Executive Director of MTN Foundation, emphasized “Education is at the centre of national development and we are most delighted to be part of this initiative.” In ensuring that no worthy mind is left behind due to lack of finance, MTN Foundation is committed to this end. According to her, this scholarship is not only about funding education; it is also about investing in Nigeria’s future leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers.
The MTN Foundation scholarship application process is simple and online.
