Instagram’s New Feature Let’s you Add Songs on your Profile Bio

Instagram, a popular social Meta platform, has launched a new feature that allows users to add their favorite song to their profile. Instagram’s new feature makes the app similar to the early 2000s social networking site, Myspace.

However, unlike Myspace, these songs will not play automatically when someone visits a profile. Instead, visitors have the option to play or pause the track at their discretion.

Instagram’s New Feature Allows You Add Song To Your Bio

This new launch is in collaboration with American pop star Sabrina Carpenter, whose Instagram profile will now include a teaser to her upcoming single “Taste” from the album “Short n’ Sweet”.

Starting today, Carpenter’s official Instagram profile will showcase a snippet of unreleased song Taste from her upcoming album set to release on Friday.

Instagram has stated that the only way to preview this track before its full release is through the new profile music feature.

Once Instagram’s new feature goes live on smartphones, users can add a song from Instagram’s library of licensed music to their profile. This song will play when someone visits their page, and will also show up right under the bio text.

How to Add a Song To Profile Using The New Feature

To add a song, users should visit the “Edit profile” page and choose a track from Instagram’s extensive library of licensed music.

This collection is also used for features like reels or posts. Users can select a 30-second clip from their chosen song to feature on their profile.

The selected track can be changed or removed at any time by revisiting the “Edit profile” section or tapping on the song directly from their profile page.

The new feature is not the only change Instagram is making to your profile. The platform has also been testing a new vertical profile grid, where all your posts could ditch the signature square Instagram look for a more 4:3 frame.
