New features are raining on social media apps and Instagram is not left behind. Instagram has revealed that users can now upload up to 20 videos and photos in a Gallery carousel post on their accounts.

The Meta app has updated this limit from 10 pictures or videos to 20. This feature is now rolling out for all users globally. Previously, you could use only 10 photos or videos in a single carousel post.

For those unaware, the carousel posts allow users to “photo dump” various images and videos at one time in a single post. Instagram users can then use swipe gestures to view all of them.

The company said, “The 20 photos or videos in a Gallery, comes as people look for easier ways to express themselves on Instagram and share more fun content with their friends – just in time for end-of-summer ‘photo dumps.’”

New Feature To Rival TikTok’s Offer

This feature was in testing for a few months and initially began with a 15 item limit before expanding to 20. However, Instagram’s key competitor TikTok offers an even larger pool with up to 35 photos and/or videos in a single post.

Also, Instagram has revealed that it will now streamline its performance metrics and make “views” the primary measurement across all content formats like Reels, Stories, photos, and more.

Instagram chief Adam Mosseri stated in a post, “Historically, we’ve shown different metrics for Reels vs. other posts, but we want to evolve this so it’s easier to understand how your content is doing regardless of the format.”
