Huawei Launches Job Recruitment Drive for Graduates in Kenya

Huawei Kenya in partnership with several business partners has launched graduate recruitment programs creating over 30 job and internship opportunities.

Huawei’s partners that attended included MFI Technologies, China Telecom, and Eastra Solutions Limited, all seeking to hire promising graduates who have been trained by Huawei’s academic partners and achieved Huawei’s globally recognized certifications.

The Huawei Management Trainee Program (HMTP) has trained 200 and absorbed 133 graduates in Kenya since its launch in 2018. The program is an annual Huawei global flagship program that identifies and develops fresh talent in the STEM field.

Fang Zheng, Human Resources Director of Huawei Kenya, said the company aims to tap top talents from Kenyan universities to boost its talent pool in Kenya, adding improving the digital skills of Kenyan youth is key to preparing them adequately for future jobs. 

Zheng said: “Huawei is committed to investing in local ICT talent through full-time employment, internships and training programs and in supporting efforts by the government in achieving her digital economy goal.”

Huawei Kenya Recruitment, An Opportunity To Develop ICT Skills

The company will offer four months of internships, where one month is for learning about Huawei products. The remaining three months will be for practical demonstration of what was learned. This will provide the interns with the hands-on experience a job requires.

Fang said: ”We will offer internships for four months consisting of one month of group learning about Huawei products. Also, it includes processes and three months of practical work in various departments to have hands-on experience. Besides, we aim to equip the university graduates with ICT skills and offer them employment opportunities at the end of the training period, for those who will be successful.”

Benefits of The Huawei Kenya Initiative 

At the launch of the program at the University of Nairobi, the Ministry of Education, Mr. Paul Mungai, highlights the benefits of the program. He emphasized that the program will boost the ICT local talent in the country. Finally, he stressed that it will positively impact the country’s economy.

He said: “As a government, we recognize and appreciate the work done by Huawei. Especially the work in expanding the ICT space in Kenya.”

“The program will boost ICT local talent and the broader ecosystem. Also, the program includes Huawei ICT Academy, ICT Competition and Cybersecurity Boot-camps, and Huawei management trainee program.”

Registration for the program ends on 31st May 2024.
