Bolttech Buys Kenya’s mTek

Bolttech has officially bought Kenya’s mTek, a move that broadens Bolttech’s reach in East Africa and boosts its ability to offer embedded insurance solutions worldwide.

Kenya’s mTek, launched in 2019, is a digital insurance platform that helps people compare, buy, and manage their insurance online. The platform partners with major insurers like GA Insurance, Sanlam, and Britam. Just recently, mTek teamed up with Mastercard to roll out embedded insurance products across East Africa, making insurance easier for more people to get. Now that Bolttech buys mTek, their technology and know-how will become part of Bolttech’s global network.

Stephan Tan, CEO for EMEA at Bolttech, said this acquisition is an exciting step that pushes Bolttech further into Africa. He pointed out how mTek’s innovative platform and skilled team share the same goal: using tech to make insurance protection simpler and more accessible. By joining forces, they aim to speed up the digital transformation of insurance and spread embedded protection even wider in the region.
