Bolt Launches Family Account for Users to Book and Pay for Rides of Up to 9 Persons

Bolt launches Family account for users, making it easier for people to book and pay for rides for their loved ones. The new feature, called the Family Profile, lets users add up to nine family members, friends, or close relatives to one account. This means one person can manage the rides for a whole group without needing to organize each trip individually. The launch of this Family account for users in Nigeria shows Bolt’s goal to make ride-hailing simple and useful for everyone.

According to Bolt, the Family Profile gives families more control over how they spend on rides. Users also get clear visibility of all the trips taken by family members and enjoy the flexibility of one shared account. Osi Oguah, Bolt’s Country Manager in Nigeria, said this tool is powerful because it allows one user to manage rides for people who might not be able to do it themselves, like older relatives or others who need support. He explained that the Family Profile matches how people travel in real life by making it easier to support family members without needing to plan every trip together.

Bolt launches Family account for users to provide a smooth way to coordinate rides within families or support groups. The Family Profile works from a single Bolt account, which means users can set spending limits each month and get live notifications every time someone starts or ends a trip. This control helps users keep track of spending and ensures safety during rides. Bolt believes this feature will improve everyday usability while keeping safety and convenience a top priority.

Bolt Launches Family Account for Users

Internal data from Bolt showed that 2 to 6 percent of rides on its platform are ordered for someone other than the account holder. Before now, these rides needed a lot of manual planning, like sharing trip details one by one. The Family account for users makes all this much simpler. Now, a primary user can invite others to join their Family Profile, making ride booking and payment easier and more connected.

Bolt also made sure that safety rules still apply with the new Family account for users. Each person in the family profile must have their own individual Bolt account and be at least 18 years old. The Family Profile does not take away anyone’s independence because every member can still order their own rides if they want to. At the same time, the main account holder keeps an overview of all activities, which helps when managing rides for people who may not be as familiar with the app.

For legal and safety reasons, the Family Profile cannot be used to book rides for unaccompanied minors. Bolt has set these age restrictions so everyone riding remains safe and follows the company’s rules. This is important because Bolt wants to protect users and maintain trust across its platform.

The Family Profile is especially helpful for parents and caregivers or those helping older family members who might struggle with using smartphones or apps like Bolt. Bolt shared that ride-hailing is growing fastest among older adults, but many face challenges with app complexity or payment methods. By launching this Family account for users, Bolt helps close that gap. It allows one trusted person to manage rides and payments for others, even if those people don’t often use or even have the Bolt app on their phones.

Besides more flexibility, the Family Profile gives users better financial control and peace of mind. They can watch each member’s ride activity, get instant alerts during trips, and quickly take action if there is a problem. For example, they can check where a ride is in real-time or contact the rider or driver if the route changes or an unexpected stop happens. This added layer of safety fits with Bolt’s commitment to keeping riders secure.

Bolt said that the Family Profile goes hand in hand with other improvements they’re making to their app, such as better routing, mapping, and easier use for riders and drivers. This new feature adds to existing safety tools like trip verification codes, live location sharing, emergency help, and monitoring of rides by Bolt’s Safety Team.

Bolt launches Family account for users with a fresh idea to help families and groups stay connected, safe, and in control while booking rides. The Family Profile is a simple but powerful way for people in Nigeria to support each other’s travel needs easily, worry less about payment or coordination, and enjoy a better ride-hailing experience.
