Bolt Announces 10% Fare Increase to Help Drivers Earn More

Bolt has announced a 10% increase in fares across all its ride categories.

This impactful decision is aimed at providing fair compensation, consequently, enhancing the working conditions for its driver-partners.

Bolt highlighted that it has engaged in an extensive dialogue with its drivers to understand their challenges in the business, especially with the rise of living costs. 

The company pointed out that the feedback it received revealed the need for fare adjustment.

It highlighted that the adjustment will ensure drivers get sustainable earnings while providing safe, reliable, and high-quality service to riders across Kenya.

Linda Ndung’u, General Manager of Bolt, Kenya, said: “This fare adjustment is not just a price change but also a step towards acknowledging the value our drivers bring to the platform every day.” 

“We believe that this move will help our drivers earn a fair wage, which in turn will allow them to continue providing the reliable and safe transportation our riders depend on.” 

Bolt 10% fare Increase to Serve as Incentives For Bolt Drivers

Following this announcement, all rides booked through the platform will now have a 10% increase in the base fare. For instance, a ride that was once priced at Ksh.200 will cost Ksh.220 in Kenya.

The additional income for drivers will also incentivize them to maintain the high standards of service to riders on the platform.

The company adds that it will continue to monitor the economic landscape and interact with all stakeholders to make any necessary adjustments in the future.
