Applications are now officially open for the highly anticipated Seeds for the Future program, an initiative of Huawei that is aimed at creating the next ICT (Information and Communication Technology) leaders in Kenya.

This program gives university students in Kenya a golden opportunity to learn the latest technological developments, thereby enabling knowledge sharing and sparking excitement about the fast changing digital world.

A Legacy of Nurturing Kenyan ICT Talent

Huawei, a global leader in providing ICT infrastructure and smart devices, has been active in the technological empowerment of Kenyan youth.

The Seeds for the Future program is one of their commitments that has spanned nine years.

The program has, in past editions, empowered more than 240 students in Kenya through virtual training sessions.

It has also presented a unique chance for 47 top performers to travel to China and undergo a two-week boot camp at Huawei’s headquarters.

The immersive experience allowed them to understand Chinese culture better while acquiring precious information about the latest technological advancements.

2024 Marks the Return of In-person Format of Learning

This year’s edition of the Seeds for the Future program marks a significant shift.

After two years of virtual training due to the global pandemic, the program is excited to communicate a return to in-person format.

This is a major step forward for Huawei that reflects its commitment to offering Kenyan students an enhanced and enriched learning experience.

Empowering Participants for the Future

The 2024 Seeds for the Future program guarantees to be a very eventful learning expedition.

The participants who are selected will embark on a five-day journey which will be full of sessions that are very informative and tackle a variety of topics.

From delving into the complexities of 5G technology to exploring the vast potential of cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI), students will have a well-rounded understanding of the technologies that shape the future of our world.

The program is much more than just technical expertise.

Participants will have the honor of taking part in discussions which are mind-opening with industrial leaders and visionary experts from all over the world.

The students will benefit from these interactive sessions to gain deep knowledge about the fast changing technology world and to develop leadership skills required to succeed in this dynamic area.

The Seeds for the Future program acknowledges that cultural exchange is a key in promoting global understanding.

This year’s program will introduce interesting possibilities to let the participants know about the amazing Chinese culture.

Students will be able to take tours of magnificent places and know the peculiar culture of China which has played a great role in forming its vivid history.

Who Should Apply?

If you are a talented Kenyan university student with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (or you are among the top 30% of your faculty), this program is for you.

Demonstrably strong interest in ICT, passion for telecommunications and emerging tech trends, and willingness to embrace cultural exchange are all essential qualities of a successful applicant.

Being multilingual is also considered an added advantage.

The application process is now open and interested applicants are requested to submit their applications by the deadline of April 30th, 2024.
