Apple halts high-end headset: Apple Inc. halts work on its next iteration of the high-end Vision headset. This development was reported on Tuesday through an employee that makes key components for the Vision Pro.
However, the company still aims to release a more affordable Vision model by the end of 2025, according to the report.
Although it originally planned to market two versions of the headset, which is similar to the regular and Pro iPhone models.
Apple’s shift in focus could influence competitors such as Meta, which sees the Vision Pro “as a litmus test of consumer appetite for a premium device.”
However, Apple is still planning to sell its Vision Pro product in eight countries, including China and Japan. This is expected to boost sales for the device.
The device is currently priced at $3,500, and demand has slowed compared to the initial market enthusiasm following the headset’s launch.
While the Vision Pro promised to deliver a groundbreaking mixed-reality experience, its excessive cost effectively priced it out of reach for the mass market.

Observing this, Apple has reportedly decided to abandon the development of the costlier “Pro 2” model and instead channel its efforts into creating a more budget-friendly “Vision” variant.
The new device is expected to feature fewer cameras, simpler speaker systems, and a streamlined headband design, all aimed at reducing production costs.
Apart from Apple halting its high-end headset, it recently hosted its annual developer conference, where the tech giant revealed its AI strategy along with a partnership with OpenAI.
It will now embed ChatGPT into Apple’s latest writing tools, including Siri. Apple’s shares jumped significantly after the event.
