Andela and CNCF Partners, Aims to Train 20,000+ African Tech Professionals

Andela and CNCF Partnership: Andela and the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) have unveiled a partnership to equip over 20,000 African tech professionals with cloud-native skills, starting 2025. 

According to the email sent to Silicon Africa, Participants will prepare for two key certifications: the Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) and the Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).

These certifications validate essential skills in Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies, which are increasingly important in today’s global tech job market.

The Kubernetes and Cloud Native associate (KCNA) certification demonstrates a user’s foundational knowledge and skills in Kubernetes and the wider cloud native ecosystem.

While the Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), which certifies that users can design, build, configure, and expose cloud native applications for Kubernetes. 

Chris Aniszczyk, CTO at the CNCF, highlighted the impact of the CNCF’s education programs.

He said, “The Andela and CNCF Partnership showcases the global impact of CNCF’s education programs. By standardizing cloud native knowledge, developers across the globe can confidently work toward certifications that will enable them to land developer positions both within their own countries and globally.” 

He further said, “By partnering with Andela, which has a long history of training technologists in Africa, we see great opportunity in providing our training to communities that may otherwise not have access.

This initiative supports Africa’s rapidly growing developer community, which is essential as global demand for tech talent surges. Andela, known for nurturing African talent, is building on its success — already training 15% of Africa’s 716,000 engineers.
