Elon Musk has just rolled out a big new AI update on X that’s changing the way you see your Following feed, and it’s all powered by Grok, the AI system built into the platform. Instead of showing tweets strictly in the order they were posted, Grok now sorts the feed to show you what it thinks you want to see first. This means, if you usually interact with certain friends or accounts, their posts could pop up higher, even if someone else tweeted earlier.
This update started rolling out after Musk asked users to refresh their X apps to get the new experience. It’s one of the biggest changes to the Following feed since he took over X in 2022. What’s cool about it is that Grok is now more front-and-center in the app, working behind the scenes right where most people spend their time scrolling.

The way this works is kind of a big deal. The Following feed used to be a simple stream of posts in exact order, without any filtering or sorting. But now that Grok is in charge, it uses AI to rank posts based on what matches your habits and interests. So, if you often like or comment on a small business owner’s tweets but don’t really engage with a celebrity’s posts, the small business might show up higher in your feed.

It’s still your Following feed, meaning you’re only seeing posts from accounts you’ve chosen to follow. But with Grok’s help sorting things out, it feels more like a discovery feed, tailored just for you, based on your activity. Every like, comment, share, or profile visit acts like a signal Grok uses to decide which posts should rise to the top.
For regular users, this means a more personal timeline where the people and accounts you really care about don’t get lost in the noise. For creators and businesses, ranking higher thanks to Grok’s AI could mean more steady engagement from followers, especially if their content aligns with what Grok detects their audience likes.
So, X introduces a major AI update empowering Grok to enhance your following feed, making it smarter and more tuned to each user. If you still prefer the traditional view, don’t worry, X lets you switch back to the classic chronological feed in the settings. But overall, this update marks a major step in how AI changes the way we connect and catch up on X.
