TikTok launches a new feature called AI Alive, a groundbreaking image-to-video tool designed especially for creators. It’s made for creators who want to make their photos more exciting. This new tool lets you turn your still pictures into short, moving videos right inside TikTok Stories. Announced on May 13, 2025, TikTok AI Alive is a big step forward in how people can share their stories online by adding movement and effects to regular photos.
Here’s how it works: you open the TikTok Story Camera by tapping the blue plus button on your Inbox or Profile page. Then, you pick a photo from your Story Album – but it has to be one you already shared in a Story before. After choosing your photo, you’ll see an AI Alive icon on the side. You can pick from some fun suggestions TikTok gives you, like making clouds move in a landscape or adding small movements to a person’s face. Or, you can type your own idea, like “make the cat walk on the railing” or “turn this into a retro video game style.”

The AI then takes your photo and your prompt and creates a short video with moving parts, sounds, and cool effects. For example, a photo of the ocean might turn into a video with waves crashing and clouds drifting by. A group selfie might get little animations that make everyone look like they’re moving or smiling more. The technology behind this is pretty smart-it understands what’s in the picture and adds realistic motion to make it look alive.
One of the best things about TikTok AI Alive is that it’s really easy to use. You don’t need to be a video expert to make your photos come alive. This means anyone can try it out and share creative videos with their friends and followers. TikTok has a huge community, with over 1.8 billion people using it every month, so this new feature could change the way many people create content.
TikTok also cares a lot about safety and being honest about what’s real and what’s made by AI. Every video made with AI Alive will have a clear label saying it’s AI-generated. Plus, the videos have special digital information attached that shows where they came from, even if someone downloads and shares them outside TikTok. This helps stop people from spreading fake or misleading videos. TikTok also checks the photos and videos to make sure they follow the rules, and users can report anything that seems wrong.
This new feature gives TikTok an edge over other social media apps like Instagram and Snapchat, which have AI tools but don’t yet offer this kind of image-to-video magic. For creators, it opens up new ways to make their posts more interesting-travel bloggers can animate scenes from their trips, teachers can make learning fun with moving pictures, and brands can create eye-catching ads.

Right now, AI Alive videos only appear in Stories, which disappear after 24 hours, so they don’t stay on your profile forever. That might limit how long people see them, but it’s a great way to share quick, fun moments.
All in all, TikTok launches AI Alive image-to-video feature for creators to help them turn ordinary photos into lively videos easily. This new tool is simple, safe, and fun, giving millions of people a fresh way to tell their stories and share moments that really come to life on TikTok.
