TikTok has Banned 43,000 Accounts In Kenya

TikTok has banned 43,000 accounts in Kenya as part of its effort to keep the app safe and friendly for everyone. Recently, TikTok shared a report for the first three months of 2025 that shows how seriously they are working to remove harmful content and protect users.

Between January and March, TikTok banned 43,000 accounts in Kenya for breaking the rules. At the same time, they took down over 450,000 videos that went against the community guidelines. What’s good to know is that TikTok removed 92.1 percent of these videos before anyone could even watch them. Also, 94.3 percent of the videos were removed within just one day of being posted. This quick action helps stop bad content from spreading on the platform.

TikTok said they use advanced technology combined with experts who help find and remove harmful content quickly. This keeps the platform clean from things like wrong information, hate speech, and other bad stuff that could hurt people. Globally, TikTok is now able to catch 99 percent of harmful content before users see it, which is a big improvement.

TikTok has also been paying close attention to TikTok LIVE, where people can stream videos live. During this period, the app stopped 19 million LIVE sessions around the world because they broke the guidelines, which is 50 percent more than the last three months. Even though many LIVE streams were stopped, people didn’t challenge these decisions more than before. This shows TikTok’s systems are getting better at being fair and accurate.

But TikTok isn’t only about stopping bad content. The company is also serious about mental health, especially for young people in Kenya. TikTok has teamed up with Childline Kenya to offer help directly inside the app. So, when users report content about suicide, self-harm, hate, or bullying, they can get advice, counseling, and support right away from local experts. In June, TikTok also partnered with Mental360 to create videos about mental health that are relevant to people in Kenya. They even named Dr. Claire Kinuthia as one of their African Mental Health Ambassadors to help spread trusted information about mental health.

All these actions show that TikTok banned 43,000 accounts in Kenya not just to punish bad behavior but to make the app a safer, better place where people can connect without fear. Users are encouraged to report any accounts or videos that break the rules through TikTok’s help center.

TikTok banned 43,000 accounts in Kenya and removed over 450,000 videos in the first quarter of 2025 to keep the community safe. They use smart technology and real people to do this quickly and accurately. TikTok LIVE is also carefully monitored to make sure it stays safe. Plus, TikTok supports mental health with local partnerships to help young users get the care and information they need.

TikTok’s strong actions show how seriously they take safety on the platform. For people in Kenya and around the world, this means a safer, more trustworthy TikTok where everyone can enjoy sharing and watching videos without worry.
