It is time for a Sonos Ace Review! Sonos, the US-headquartered consumer electronics firm better known for its high-end smart speakers and soundbars, has just launched its first headphones: the Sonos Ace.
According to TechCrunch, Sonos announced it was getting into the headphone game with the $449 Ace in late May.
The development was expected, as the company has spent the past 20-plus years establishing itself as a trusted, reliable name in the world of connected home audio.
Also, it was a great plan, as nearly every other consumer electronic manufacturer entered the headphone space.
In a statement ahead of their release, Sonos CEO Patrick Spence said, “The Sonos Ace leverages everything we’ve learned over two decades as an audio leader. With this knowledge, we bring stunning sound, sleek design, and longstanding comfort to one of the largest and most popular audio categories worldwide”.
The headphones feature one of the latest audio technologies, including lossless and spatial audio (delivered over Bluetooth – version 5.4). It also has a top-notch ANC (that’s active noise cancellation), and Sonos’s impressive TrueCinema technology for immersive audio in movies and series.
The Sonos Ace comes in a well-designed, sturdy box that reflects the brand’s premium image. Inside the box, you get an interesting case made from recycled materials.
The build quality of the Ace is impressive, with a solid yet lightweight construction. The materials used feel premium, and the design is minimalist and elegant.

However, it is maybe slightly less premium than the Airpods Max, but Sonos has intelligently used material to maximize comfort, so it is considerably lighter than the Airpods Max.
The shape of the headphones is adequate, and the headband has a nice soft foam that compresses nicely.
Sonos Ace is well-designed and anti-fragile. It sits comfortably over the ears, and leaves almost no discomfort wearing them for extended periods.
On the left ear-cup is a small power/pairing button, a USB-C charging port, and a small LED status light.
The right side has a button to switch quickly between “ANC” and “Aware” (external sound pass-through) modes, and a “Content Key”. The Content Key is used to adjust the volume, skip songs, and answer phone calls. Sonos couldn’t have made it simpler, and the buttons are ideally placed on the cups. The Sonos Ace also has 8 microphones, you can see some of them on the sides and bottom of each ear-cup.
The noise canceling is okay. However, it is not up to the standards set by the Sony WH-1000XM5 and the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones.
Battery life can last two weeks when charged once. You can utilize the quick charge capability. This will initiate the fast charge of the gadget.
