Sendstack Cofounder Ifeoma Nwobu Resigns Amid Second Pivot

Sendstack, a Nigerian logistics startup, is facing another major change as cofounder Ifeoma Nwobu steps down from her role as Chief Operating Officer. This departure comes amid the company’s second pivot in just five months, marking a significant shift in its business strategy.

Nwobu’s exit leaves CEO Emeka Mba-Kalu as the sole leader of Sendstack’s small team of about five people. The company has confirmed her departure but has not provided any additional details about the circumstances surrounding her exit.

This latest development follows a series of transformations for Sendstack. In October 2024, the company made its first pivot by shutting down DLVR, its last-mile delivery aggregator that had been operating for three years. Citing scalability challenges, Sendstack shifted its focus to fleet management for corporate clients. However, the company has recently undergone another change, moving from a software-only model to incorporating AirTag-like trackers into its offerings.

Despite these challenges, Sendstack has set an ambitious goal of reaching $1 million in revenue by 2025, which would be four times what it earned in its first three years of operation. This target comes as the company explores new avenues for growth and attempts to establish itself in the competitive logistics technology sector.

Nwobu’s journey with Sendstack began when she joined the company as head of growth, eventually becoming a co-founder and COO in August 2021. Her background is diverse, having worked with Mba-Kalu at his previous e-commerce startup, Scrader, which she cited as an inspiration for Sendstack’s founding. Before her foray into tech, Nwobu had a successful five-year career as a supermodel and founded Frugirls, a thrift fashion business.

During her time at Sendstack, Nwobu played a crucial role in shaping the company’s public image. She frequently represented the startup at pitch and demo events, gaining recognition for her clear and convincing presentations. Despite Nwobu’s efforts and the company’s pivots, Sendstack has only managed to raise $350,000 in funding from Norrsken, ODX, and a few angel investors. This relatively modest amount of capital raises questions about the company’s ability to achieve its ambitious revenue goals and navigate the challenges of the logistics industry.

The reasons behind Nwobu’s departure remain unclear, with both she and CEO Mba-Kalu declining to comment on the split. This lack of transparency has led to speculation about potential disagreements over the company’s direction or other internal issues.
