Schneider Electric has launched its first innovation hub in Africa, marking a major step in the company’s commitment to the continent. The new Innovation Hub is located at Schneider Electric’s modern, English-speaking head office in Midrand, Johannesburg. This launch is a big milestone for Schneider Electric, showing its dedication to investing in Africa and bringing its latest technology closer to customers, partners, and stakeholders across the region.

Schneider Electric’s first innovation hub in Africa joins a global network of over 40 Schneider Electric Innovation Hubs around the world. The hub is designed to be an interactive space where visitors can learn about the company’s integrated solutions for important industries like energy, buildings, data centers, industry, and power grids. The experience is personalized for each visitor, starting with the Schneider Electric company story on an interactive tablet. From there, guests are guided through different areas that showcase how Schneider Electric’s technology works in real life.

Some of the key features visitors can explore include the Software Portfolio, which highlights advanced software like AVEVA Operations Control, eTAP, and EcoStruxure platforms. There are also live demonstrations of industrial automation, such as conveyor systems and real-time analytics, as well as smart building solutions for lighting, HVAC, and access control. The Power and Grid Solutions area displays the latest equipment, including innovative SF₆-free AirSet switchgear and microgrid technology. Additionally, a live server room shows off Schneider Electric’s data center and backup power solutions.

Schneider Electric officially launched its first innovation hub in Africa to help build an ecosystem focused on collaboration, innovation, and solutions that fit the African context. Canninah Dladla, Cluster President for Anglophone Africa at Schneider Electric, emphasized the importance of local talent and partnerships. She said, “We are building an ecosystem that thrives on collaboration, innovation, and relevance to the African context; one that values local talent, fosters local partnerships, and drives local solutions. The Innovation Hub enables us to create a truly dynamic experience that embodies Schneider Electric’s purpose: enabling all to maximize energy and resources while bridging progress and sustainability”.

The new headquarters, which houses Schneider Electric’s first innovation hub in Africa, is also a model for sustainable building design. The building uses 37% less energy and 34% less water each month compared to the company’s previous offices. It also saves 32 tonnes of CO₂ emissions monthly, thanks to features like a large rooftop solar installation. Plans are in place to add a full microgrid with battery storage, making the building even more environmentally friendly.

Schneider Electric has launched its first innovation hub in Africa not just as a showcase, but as a center for learning, collaboration, and driving digital transformation. The hub is open for partners, consultants, and system integrators to book in advance, and it is staffed by experts ready to guide visitors through the company’s solutions.
