The popular piracy platform My Family Cinema has shut down after a big global crackdown on illegal streaming sites. Known as My Family Cinema (MFC), this popular video streaming platform was forced to close because of copyright problems.
People using My Family Cinema in countries like Australia and Canada started having trouble getting on the site about two months ago. Lately, many users got messages saying that the platform had to shut down for good due to copyright issues. The message said, “Due to copyright issues, this brand must permanently end its service. We sincerely thank you for your trust and support over the years.”

The shutdown of My Family Cinema is connected to a recent worldwide crackdown on piracy platforms, especially by authorities in Argentina. In September, the Argentine courts worked with groups like La Liga, Alianza, Nagravision, and Telecom Argentina to fight back against illegal streaming. The Motion Picture Association (MPA) also helped to break up a big network of piracy in Latin America.

This pirate network had about 8 million paying users and could reach over 20 million people. The crackdown found many illegal IPTV services that were stealing and sharing video content under well-known fake brand names. One of the main targets was My Family Cinema, believed to be operating from the United States.
Along with My Family Cinema, other piracy platforms that were shut down include TV Express, Eppi Cinema, Weiv TV, Red Play, and many more like PLUSTV, Mix, and Football Zone.
Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, said, “This network shows that video piracy is a serious international crime. We will keep working with authorities and partners to protect the industry, the clubs, and the fans.”
About My Family Cinema itself, the site had a global audience mostly aged 25-34, with almost 65% male users. In September 2025 alone, it got nearly 485,000 visits, according to Similarweb.
Though it called itself a personal media player, the platform was mostly used to upload and share big libraries of movies and TV shows. It had content from paid services like DStv, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and Showmax — all without permission.
This shutdown of My Family Cinema happened right after another famous piracy platform, Streameast, was taken down. Streameast was the world’s largest live sports streaming site before Egyptian police and the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) shut it down.
These big moves are a win for the fight against digital piracy, helping protect creators and fans worldwide.
