MTN South Africa has appointed Ferdi Moolman as new CEO, and this is a big moment for the company. Ferdi Moolman as new CEO will take over from Charles Molapisi, who is stepping down after leading MTN South Africa since 2022. This change shows that MTN South Africa is ready to move forward and grow even more in the future.
Ferdi Moolman has a strong history with MTN. He helped lead MTN’s business in Nigeria as CEO from 2016 to 2021, where he played a major role in the company’s growth there. Now, with Ferdi Moolman as new CEO of MTN South Africa, he brings a lot of experience and knowledge to help the company do well in one of Africa’s most important markets.

At the same time, Charles Molapisi will not leave the company completely. He will focus more on technology and innovation as MTN’s group chief technology and information officer. Molapisi will work on bringing artificial intelligence (AI) into the company’s everyday work. This means AI can help make things faster and easier for customers and MTN workers, which is very important for staying competitive.
Another important change is that Yolanda Cuba, who is now MTN Group’s vice president for Southern and East Africa, will become deputy CEO and executive director of MTN South Africa. With both Ferdi Moolman as new CEO and Yolanda Cuba working together, MTN South Africa hopes to grow faster and do even better.
There are also changes planned at the top of the company’s board. Mike Harper, who has been chairman since 2016, will retire next year. To ensure a smooth change, Sindisiwe Mabaso-Koyana will take over as the new chairperson of MTN South Africa in early 2026. This shows MTN is planning well for the future.
MTN is also making other big moves in its leadership to strengthen the whole company. For example, Tsholofelo Molefe, the group chief financial officer, will now also handle mergers and acquisitions. Other leaders, like Ismail Jaroudi and Ebenezer Asante, will focus on special projects and growing MTN’s work in different African countries.
All these changes show that MTN is serious about growing faster and working smarter. The appointment of Ferdi Moolman as new CEO is a key part of this plan. His experience and leadership will help MTN South Africa as it faces new challenges and opportunities.
Ralph Mupita, MTN Group’s CEO, said the company has deep talent across its teams. These leadership changes will help MTN act faster on its plans and create more value for customers and investors. They see big chances to use technology, like AI, to boost how the company works.
