Morocco Plans to Host World-Class AI Hub Through Naver–Nvidia Strategic Alliance

Morocco is set to take a big step forward in technology as it plans to host a world-class AI Hub through the Naver–Nvidia strategic alliance. This major project will see a next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) data center built in Morocco, thanks to a partnership between Korean technology giant Naver, US chipmaker Nvidia, AI infrastructure specialist Nexus Core Systems, and global investment firm Lloyd Capital.

The new AI Hub will be a 500-megawatt facility, powered entirely by renewable energy. It is designed to serve as a sovereign AI computing hub for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. This means that the data center will handle all data storage, processing, and operations locally, without relying on servers in other countries. This addresses growing concerns about data sovereignty, which is the idea that a country should control its own data, and technological independence.

Morocco was chosen for this project because of its strategic location. The country is just 15 kilometers from Europe and is connected by multiple subsea fiber-optic cables. This makes it an ideal spot to serve as a digital bridge between Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. The strong digital infrastructure and easy access to business hubs in these regions were key factors in the decision.

Morocco Plans to Host World-Class AI Hub

The AI Hub through the Naver–Nvidia strategic alliance will be built in phases. Construction of the first phase is set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025. This phase will feature a 40-megawatt AI supercomputing system equipped with Nvidia’s latest Blackwell (GB200) GPUs, which are some of the most advanced AI chips available today. The data center will then expand in stages until it reaches its full 500-megawatt capacity.

To ensure the data center runs on clean and reliable energy, the consortium has secured a long-term renewable power supply agreement with TAQA, a leading energy company from the UAE. This commitment to renewable energy means the AI Hub will be both powerful and environmentally friendly.

Naver Cloud, along with Nexus Core Systems and Lloyd Capital, will operate the AI Hub and provide a full suite of AI services and applications. The advanced cloud infrastructure will support everything from data storage to complex AI operations, making it a central point for AI innovation in the region.

This initiative marks a major milestone for Naver’s global ambitions and puts Morocco on the map as a rising player in the world of AI infrastructure. By hosting this world-class AI Hub, Morocco is not only boosting its own digital capabilities but is also set to become a key exporter of AI computing services to Africa, Europe, and beyond.

Morocco’s plan to host a world-class AI Hub through the Naver–Nvidia strategic alliance is a game-changer for the region. It combines cutting-edge technology, renewable energy, and a strategic location to create a powerful center for AI development and services. This project is expected to drive innovation, create new opportunities, and strengthen Morocco’s position as a leader in digital transformation.
