Moniepoint Women in Tech Program Expands to 15 Interns as It Turns 5

To celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD), Moniepoint Inc., a leading digital financial services provider and Africa’s fastest-growing financial institution, has announced an expansion of its “Women in Tech” program. This year, the initiative will grow from offering 10 internship spots to 15, reinforcing Moniepoint’s dedication to reducing the gender gap in the tech industry.

This announcement aligns with the 2025 IWD theme, “Accelerate Action,” which emphasizes the urgency of promoting gender equality across industries. The program aims to empower women in Nigeria and beyond, where women are underrepresented in tech despite making up nearly half of the population.

Statistics show that women account for only 25% of Nigeria’s tech workforce, even though they represent 22% of STEM graduates annually. Moniepoint’s initiative seeks to close this gap by providing young women with practical experience, mentorship, and opportunities to contribute to real-world projects in digital finance.

For its fifth year, the program will offer internships in various fields such as Cloud Engineering, Backend Engineering, Technical Product Management, Data Engineering, Systems Administration, Technical Support, and User Experience. The selected interns, called the “Dream 15,” will participate in a six-month program that includes mentorship, a salary, work tools, branded merchandise, and potential full-time job offers based on performance.

Chinaza Nduka-Dike, Vice President of People Operations at Moniepoint Inc., highlighted the significance of the program: “Through the Women in Tech initiative, we are creating sustainable pathways for women to thrive in technology. Diversity drives innovation, and this program equips women with leadership skills and opportunities to shape the future of tech.”

The Women in Tech initiative has been a game-changer for participants and the broader tech community by offering resources and mentorship to help women succeed in technology. The internship is open to women across Africa interested in starting a tech career. Details about available roles can be found on the Women in Tech website https://womenintech.moniepoint.com
