Mawingu Announces Expansion of Network to Mandera County

Mawingu, Internet Service Provider (ISP), has announced the expansion of its network to Mandera County.

This now brings its total connected counties to 30, serving 19,500 home and business customers.

In its second half of 2024 progress update, Mawingu’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Farouk Ramji, said the company has marked yet another milestone towards its long-term vision of making meaningful connectivity accessible to more Kenyans at very competitive price points.

He also highlighted that its cost is competitive compared to other service providers and is building sustainable, flexible infrastructure in underserved regions.

He said, “Mawingu marks yet another milestone towards our long-term vision of making meaningful connectivity accessible to more Kenyans at competitive price points.”

“Additionally, the points are comparative to other service providers, by building sustainable, flexible infrastructure in underserved regions.”

Mawingu Expansion Across Kenya

Mawingu has also enhanced its network coverage in Garissa County with an investment in fiber delivery infrastructure. The ISP will be laying more than 30 kilometers of fiber to improve its connectivity experience in the county.

Mr Ramji said, “Mawingu remains committed to going the extra mile to meet our customers at their connectivity point of need. “To this end, we are firmly focused on expediting our mid-term growth strategy of expanding our connectivity to additional counties across Kenya.”

Also, Mawingu uses wireless, fiber, and smart green-energy technology, and has a network transmission fabric comprising 175 towers (base stations).

The towers are backhauled directly to dedicated fiber trunks and/or high-capacity microwaves, links with diversity and high levels of redundancy built into the architecture.
