Lagos Announces New Launch Date for Electronic Call up System

Lagos State Government has announced that the electronic call-up (e-call-up) system will take effect on the Lekki-Epe corridor from September 23, 2024.
This development is to avert severe congestion by articulated trucks and improve the efficiency of logistics operations within the axis.

The e-call-up system is a digital platform designed to regulate the entry and exit of trucks in the Lekki-Epe area by scheduling and coordinating their movements.
It is expected to help prevent the chaotic traffic situations often caused by the indiscriminate parking and movement of trucks within the corridor.
Trucks entering the Lekki Free Trade Zone will first be directed to designated operational parks, where they will wait until they are called to proceed to the Lekki Free Trade Zone, port, or terminal when road conditions are convenient.
These parks have a combined capacity to hold over 1,200 trucks, keeping them off the roads when not needed.
This new update was made known through a press release signed by the Lagos State Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Mrs Bolanle Ogunlola on Sunday.
“The commencement date was earlier extended on Stakeholders’ request to give adequate room for full compliance.
“The e-call-up system is ready for implementation for a sustainable, effective and technology-driven solution for truck movement in the Lekki-Epe Corridor,” the release read.

Additionally, this new update is particularly important as Dangote Refinery, located in the Lagos Free Trade Zone, began fuel distribution on September 15, a development expected to significantly increase the number of trucks moving through the area.
With other major industries like the Lekki Free Trade Zone and the Lekki Deep Sea Port located along the corridor, the efficient movement of goods is critical to Lagos’ economic activity.
The e-call-up system is set to play a key role in ensuring smooth logistics operations, reducing congestion, and contributing to sustainable development within the region.
